What Type of Spirituality Are You? Part 2

Updated: 8 hours ago

by Elia Cardenas, DMin, Associate Director

I want to continue reflecting on the glimpses of our congregational charism and how it is reflected in everything we do and nurtured by our own spirituality.

Last week at the Leadership Conference for Women Religious (LCWR), I had a conversation with Sr. Jean Louis Bachetti, IHM, about our spirituality and how we are all interconnected to the source of God's love. She also offered me the image of a diamond that can be unique in its design, as any religious order is.

Reflecting on that conversation, a diamond has many facets that reflect light and sparkle, just as the many congregations of religious life present in the world reflect their own  light. The internal light (God's love) bounces off the internal facets, creating the dispersion of light we see reflected in the unique and diverse congregational charisms and spirituality as a refraction and reflection, creating brilliance for the world to see. It also creates a dispersion called fire, which is the light into the beautiful spectral colors, like a rainbow, of the different congregational charisms and spiritualities present in the world, reflecting the light and love of God born out of their internal reflection to sparkle.

So let us discover what type of spirituality we are and allow the brilliance of God's love and our congregational charism to be reflected in everything we do.
